HCPC

What does it stand for?

HCPC is the Health and Care Professions Council.

What is it?

The HCPC is the main regulating body for a wide range of health care professionals within the UK. All of our prosthetists, orthotists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and psychologists are registered with the HCPC. You can check their registration by visiting the HCPC website.

What do they do?

All healthcare professionals with a protected title within the UK must be registered with the HCPC, this ensures they meet the high standards set for training, professional skills, behaviour and health.

These standards are set by the HCPC council which also develops and monitors strategies and policies.

The standards can be broken down into the following subsections:

  • Standards of conduct, performance and ethics
  • Standards of proficiency
  • Standards for continuing professional development
  • Standards of education and training
