Functional enhancing components

In addition to the standard components Beast Prosthetics are able to provide you with additions which can help to improve your prosthesis.

Torque absorbersTwist quicker

Torque is rotational force caused by a twisting motion. Torque absorbers therefore help to reduce the effect of these forces upon the residual limb and the components of the prosthetic. This is particularly important in sports and activities which involve twisting e.g. golf.

Shock absorbers

Shock absorbers help to dampen the shock and impact forces felt through the prosthetic. The device works by housing a spring within a telescopic tube which compresses underload. The level of compression can be adjusted depending on your requirements.

TurntablesSpin around

Turntables enable you to rotate your prosthesis, this is normally located above the knee joint enabling you to rotate the lower part of your limb. They can, however, also be located within a transtibial (above knee) prosthesis allowing the user to rotate the shin and foot. To allow rotation you simply depress a button on the device, when returned to the standard position the device automatically locks. Turntables are particularly useful if you would like to kneel, sit cross-legged or need to move your leg out of the way when driving or working in a confined space.

Waterproof covers

For some a specific water activity limb may not be suitable therefore at Beast Prosthetics our prosthetists are able to provide you with a range of waterproof cover options to enable you to enjoy the water.

payment options

We offer free initial prosthetic assessments to those who intend to self fund their treatment or to those who wish to gain an estimate for costs so that they can apply for funding.
