Silicone self suspension

Silicone self suspension

Silicone or gel liners are worn within a socket and use a pin lock or lanyard locking mechanism to secure to the socket itself. This method provides a good level of suspension and also helps to absorb torque motions. Due to the thickness of the liner there is an increased level of cushioning helping to improve comfort when walking.

Due to the high friction coefficient between the residual limb and the liner they can be difficult to put on however once they are donned correctly they provide superior suspension and security when compared with other suspension methods.
